Voters from across Missouri and Kansas went to the polls today for the 2026 midterm elections.
Statewide, Missourians voted on five ballot questions, U.S. House representatives and state auditor.
Big items on the Kansas side of the state line were governor, U.S Senate, U.S House representatives and State Board of Education members.

Amendment 3: Prohibit abortion and gender transition procedures for minors
If passed, Amendment 3 would repeal Missourians’ constitutional “right to reproductive freedom,” which voters enshrined in the state constitution in 2024. Abortions would be banned except in cases of medical emergency, fetal anomaly, rape or incest. Gender transition surgeries for minors would also be constitutionally banned.
If Amendment 3 fails, the Missouri Constitution would keep its language regarding a “right to reproductive freedom,” prohibiting state lawmakers from banning abortion outright.
Amendment 6: Initiative and referendum powers and legislative change requirements
If passed, Amendment 6 would make it harder for state lawmakers to change or repeal any laws that Missouri voters passed through the citizen-led petition process, requiring an 80% vote in both the state House and Senate to do so. It would further enshrine the initiative and referendum process as a fundamental right for Missourians.
Amendment 7: Creating the Show Me Prosperity Investment Fund for state tax reduction and elimination
If passed, Amendment 7 would create a permanent public endowment fund managed by the state to generate revenue, and use the earnings of the fund to later eliminate state taxes once the fund has generated enough money to replace them.
Amendment 8: Requiring the election of county sheriffs
If passed, Amendment 8 would put the existing state requirement that voters elect sheriffs every four years into the Missouri Constitution.
Proposition A: Mid-decade redistricting
If passed, Proposition A would allow Missouri’s 2025 gerrymandered congressional map to take effect for future elections instead of the 2022 map that lawmakers approved based on census data.
