The Beacon has already trained 59 residents to take notes at public meetings and support regional newsrooms as part of the newly launched Kansas City Documenters program.

RACHEL KRAUSE is The Beacon’s director of civic partnerships & engagement in Kansas City. She brings more than 12 years of experience in public engagement, strategic communications and community-focused storytelling with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, businesses and cooperatives around the country. Before joining The Beacon, Rachel coordinated the WAY TO GO program at the Mid-America Regional Council, where they led initiatives to promote sustainable transportation options and strengthen public understanding of and engagement in regional planning issues. Rachel is a graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism.
